Last updated: 26 May 2026

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of SkyRule. By using SkyRule, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use SkyRule.

1. What SkyRule is

SkyRule is a drone-rules education, mapping and decision-support service. It helps users understand drone rules, airspace considerations, restriction zones and pre-flight checks in plain English.

SkyRule may include account features, learning tools, class-mark explainers, drone-rule checkers, map tools, location-based restriction guidance, airspace overlays, future NOTAM or temporary restriction features, and future paid or professional features.

2. SkyRule is not an official authority

SkyRule is not the Civil Aviation Authority, NATS, an air navigation service provider, an official aviation briefing service, a legal adviser, an air traffic control service, a flight authorisation service or a substitute for professional operational planning.

SkyRule does not grant permission to fly.

3. Remote pilot responsibility

The remote pilot remains responsible for the final decision to fly. Before flying, you must check all relevant requirements, including:

  • current aviation law and CAA requirements;
  • airspace restrictions;
  • NOTAMs;
  • AIP Supplements;
  • temporary restricted areas;
  • flight restriction zones;
  • Prohibited Areas;
  • Danger Areas;
  • local restrictions;
  • landowner permissions;
  • privacy obligations;
  • weather;
  • site conditions;
  • people and property nearby;
  • drone condition and battery status;
  • pilot competence;
  • category/subcategory requirements;
  • insurance requirements where applicable.

If you are unsure, do not fly until you have checked official sources or obtained competent advice.

4. Current map limitations

SkyRule may show permanent mapped restriction data and other selected datasets. These datasets may not include all current restrictions.

Unless clearly stated otherwise in the app, NOTAMs may not be integrated, temporary restrictions may not be integrated, AIP Supplements may not be integrated, local bylaws and landowner restrictions may not be integrated, weather and site hazards may not be integrated, and data may be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate or unavailable.

A "no mapped restriction found" result does not mean that flight is lawful, safe or authorised.

5. No "safe to fly" guarantee

SkyRule must not be treated as giving a final "safe to fly" decision.

SkyRule may provide wording such as "No mapped permanent restriction found", "Further checks required", "Permission may be required", "Check official sources" or "Do not fly unless authorised". These are guidance outputs only. They are not legal determinations.

6. Use of location features

SkyRule may use your device location if you choose to allow it.

Location accuracy depends on your device, browser, GPS signal, network conditions and environment. Location may be wrong or imprecise.

You must check the map manually and confirm your actual operating location. Do not rely solely on device GPS.

7. Aviation data and third-party sources

SkyRule may use data from official, public, licensed or third-party aviation sources.

We aim to use reliable sources, but aviation data can change quickly. We do not guarantee that data is complete, current, error-free or suitable for every flight.

You must verify important decisions using official sources.

8. Prohibited uses

You must not use SkyRule to:

  • conduct unlawful drone flights;
  • avoid regulatory obligations;
  • harass, surveil or endanger people;
  • interfere with aircraft, emergency services, prisons, airports, military sites or protected locations;
  • plan reckless or unsafe operations;
  • scrape, reverse engineer or overload the service;
  • bypass access controls;
  • upload malicious code;
  • misuse other users' data;
  • impersonate someone else;
  • use SkyRule in a way that breaches aviation, privacy, criminal, intellectual property or other laws.

9. Professional and commercial operations

If you use SkyRule for professional, commercial, Specific Category, BVLOS, complex, high-risk or regulated operations, you must carry out your own competent operational planning and obtain any required authorisations, permissions, risk assessments, approvals or professional advice.

SkyRule's general guidance is not a replacement for an Operational Authorisation, SORA, OSC/ORA, PDRA, flight manual, operations manual, risk assessment or professional compliance review.

10. Account security

You are responsible for:

  • keeping your account secure;
  • controlling access to your email account;
  • not sharing login links or OTPs;
  • telling us if you suspect unauthorised access;
  • keeping your account information accurate.

We may suspend or restrict access if we suspect misuse, security risk or breach of these Terms.

11. Paid features

SkyRule may later offer subscriptions or paid features. If paid features are introduced, the relevant pricing, renewal, cancellation and refund terms will be shown before purchase.

12. Availability

We aim to keep SkyRule available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. SkyRule may be affected by hosting issues, maintenance, third-party provider outages, map provider issues, data provider failures, internet problems, software bugs, security incidents or force majeure events.

13. Intellectual property

SkyRule, including its design, branding, text, software, workflows, training content, rule explanations and original materials, belongs to The Drone Rules Ltd or its licensors.

You may use SkyRule for your own lawful purposes. You must not copy, resell, reproduce, reverse engineer or commercially exploit SkyRule without permission.

Third-party map, aviation and data sources remain subject to their own licences and attribution requirements.

14. User content

If SkyRule later allows users to upload or submit content, you are responsible for that content. You must not submit unlawful, misleading, unsafe, infringing or harmful material.

You grant us the rights needed to host, process and display submitted content for the purpose of operating SkyRule.

15. Disclaimers

SkyRule is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that SkyRule will be error-free, all data will be complete or current, the service will meet every operational need, every restriction or hazard will be shown, map locations will be perfectly accurate, third-party data will be reliable, or use of SkyRule will make a flight lawful or safe.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any statutory rights that cannot be excluded.

16. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Drone Rules Ltd will not be liable for:

  • unlawful or unsafe flights carried out by users;
  • failure to check official sources;
  • reliance on incomplete or outdated third-party data;
  • loss caused by inaccurate device location;
  • loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or opportunity;
  • indirect or consequential loss;
  • third-party service failures;
  • map, airspace or NOTAM data errors outside our reasonable control.

For business users, our total liability arising from SkyRule will be limited to the greater of the amount paid by you for SkyRule in the 12 months before the claim or GBP 100.

For consumers, this limitation applies only to the extent permitted by law and does not affect statutory rights.

17. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if:

  • you breach these Terms;
  • you misuse SkyRule;
  • you create legal, safety or security risk;
  • we are required to do so by law;
  • the service is discontinued.

You may stop using SkyRule at any time.

18. Changes to SkyRule or these Terms

We may update SkyRule and these Terms as the product develops. Material changes will be posted on the website or notified where appropriate. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

19. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any consumer rights that apply in your country of residence.
